This cover has a KARACHI AIR 14 OCT 32 postmark for cancelling the stamps. Not commonly seen, this Cancellation was applied on the mail posted only at Karachi Airport. Correctly franked 3a 3p (1a 3p for surface letter rate + 2a domestic airmail fee).

One of the very few example of Registered mail from Britain carried on the First Airmail Flight.
This Registered Mail Cover, franked 18d, was posted in Notting Hill, London on 5th October 1932 and arrived in Karachi on 14th October 1932 by Imperial Airways Flight IE 185 and then carried from Karachi, where the first flight cachet was applied, to Bombay reaching the same day, then on by surface to Calcutta with delivery on 17th October 1932.

Probably due to misunderstood instructions, mail from Bellary to Madras was concelled with the Karachi - Madras cachet (the 16th) instead of the postamrk, which was applied clear of the stamps mail to the other three stages is probably post marked, making this one of the scarcer special covers.
